Only Two Places Left in the Challenger Cup!

Hello [[firstname]],

You've probably seen the posters on emails for the Challenger Cup but with the closing date approaching we thought we'd send one final reminder to players in Leagues 8–13 and those with a SquashLevels rating below 800.

We're currently on 14 entrants and would love to fill the remaining two places to create a full 16-player draw. If you have already entered - thank you! A few details about the day are below -

This Is Not a Knockout Tournament

One of the biggest misconceptions about tournaments is that you can lose your first match and spend the rest of the day watching.

That's not the case with the Challenger Cup.

With 16 entrants, every player is guaranteed four matches and will finish the day with an overall position from 1st to 16th. Whether you win your first match or not, you'll continue playing throughout the day against opponents of a similar standard.

The format is designed to be competitive, enjoyable and inclusive for developing club players.

Tournament Format

  • Open to players typically competing in Leagues 8–13 or with a SquashLevels rating below 800
  • Four matches guaranteed for every player
  • Best of three games, PAR 11 scoring
  • Final finishing positions for all players from 1st to 16th
  • Winner receives the inaugural Challenger Cup
  • Runner-up also receives a trophy

Approximate match times are:

  • 9:00am
  • 11:00am
  • 1:30pm–2:00pm
  • 4:30pm

There will be plenty of time between matches to relax, watch the other games, enjoy some food and drink and cheer on your fellow club members.

Marking Duties

As is normal in squash tournaments, the winner of each match will be expected to mark the following match. This helps keep the event running smoothly and ensures all matches are properly officiated.

Make a Day of It

The bar will be open throughout the day and the kitchen will be available for tea, coffee and water. Use the microwave or oven to warm up your lunch and snacks.

Friends and family are warmly encouraged to come along and support the players. It should be a fantastic day of squash and a great occasion for the club.

We've attached a photo of the trophies that are waiting for their first winners.

If you'd like one of the remaining places or have any questions about the event, simply reply to this email and we'll be happy to help.

P.S. Results from the Challenger Cup may be submitted to SquashLevels, but only where both players in a match agree to their result being submitted.
